better explanations is very fundamental to the process of understanding. You have some data and you know what is going to be the output based on your understanding and explanation. Whenever you find exceptions are the inputs for which you don't know the output or you know the output for the input but you are not able to explain why, that is what leads to the pursuit of better explanations.
Better explanations and better presentations lead to better models.
